TransFA

The overall objective of the project was to determine the knowledge translation policy, expectations, and activities of health research funding agencies in Canada and internationally.  We were interested in the following questions: What expectations do funding agencies have of researchers? What do funding agencies perceive to be their role in promoting the results of the research they fund? How do funding agencies promote uptake of the research they fund? What are the agencies’ capacities to support knowledge translation? A judgement sample of health research funding agencies in Canada, Australia, France, the Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, the United Kingdom and the USA was identified by the investigators. For each agency, up to three key informants with responsibility for overall strategic direction, applied research programmes and knowledge translation, as identified by members of the agency, were interviewed. The interview framework was developed by the Ottawa based team to explore issues around knowledge translation at several levels of organization: the country level, that of the funding agency and at the researcher level. See the attached presentation for further details.
